Windscreen questions, answered
What Parramatta drivers want to know about windscreen repair and replacement : pricing, insurance, turnaround and our 24/7 mobile service. Still stuck? Pick up the phone and we'll help.
It comes down to how big the damage is and where it sits. As a rule of thumb, a chip no larger than a 50-cent coin, or a crack shorter than about 40mm, can usually be sorted with our chip repair service. But if the damage sits right in the driver’s line of sight, or it’s gone clean through both layers of the glass, a windscreen replacement is the safer bet. We’ll give you an honest assessment on the spot and only ever steer you toward a replacement when a repair genuinely won’t cut it.
Most chip repairs are done and dusted in around 20 to 30 minutes, so it’s an easy one to slot into a lunch break or a stop at home. There’s no downtime afterwards either — the resin sets hard the moment it’s cured under UV light, so you can climb straight back in and drive off as soon as we’ve finished up.
Fitting a new windscreen usually takes our technician somewhere between one and two hours. After that, the urethane holding the glass in needs a little time to set before the car’s safe to drive — generally about an hour, though it shifts with the weather and the adhesive we’ve used. We’ll always give you a clear safe drive-away time for your particular vehicle before we pack up.
In most cases, yes. Comprehensive car insurance generally covers windscreen and glass damage, and plenty of policies let you have a chip repaired with no excess at all, while a replacement often comes with a reduced excess. We deal with every major insurer — AAMI, NRMA, QBE, Youi, Shannons and the rest — and we’re happy to lodge and manage the claim for you so you’re not left on hold. Not sure what your policy covers? Have your details handy and we’ll help you work it out. See how our insurance claims process works.
That’s how we work by default. Our vans are fully kitted out to repair and replace windscreens wherever you are around Parramatta — on the driveway at home, in the car park at work, or on the roadside if you’ve been left stranded. You won’t need to drive a cracked windscreen anywhere or juggle drop-off times; we come to you, and for most jobs there’s no extra charge for the call-out. Take a look at everything we cover on our services page.
If your car has driver-assist features — lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise and the like — the cameras behind the glass need to be re-aimed the moment the windscreen comes out. That’s ADAS calibration. After any windscreen replacement, those sensors sit in a slightly different position, and even a millimetre out can throw off how the systems read the road. We recalibrate them so everything reads true again. Tell us your make and model when you book and we’ll confirm whether yours needs it — see our ADAS calibration service for the full rundown.
We’re based in Parramatta and cover it inside out, along with the surrounding Greater Western Sydney suburbs — North Parramatta, Harris Park, Westmead, Rosehill, Granville, Merrylands, Northmead, Wentworthville, Toongabbie, Oatlands, Rydalmere, Dundas, Ermington, Carlingford and Winston Hills. Our mobile technicians come to your home, workplace or the roadside, whichever is easiest for you. You’ll find the full rundown on our locations page, and if you’re just outside these suburbs, give us a call and we’ll let you know.
Every repair and replacement we carry out in Parramatta is backed by a warranty — we wouldn’t have it any other way. Chip repairs are guaranteed not to keep spreading from the spot we’ve treated, and replacements come with cover against water leaks along with a workmanship guarantee on the fit. If something isn’t right, we’ll come back and put it right. You can read the fine print on our warranty policy page.
The quickest way is to phone our Parramatta team on (02) 8111 5921 — we’re reachable around the clock and can lock in a time on the spot. Prefer to do it in writing? Fill out the quote form on this site with your vehicle details and we’ll come straight back to you. If your windscreen has just gone and you need someone out today, give us a ring rather than emailing, so we can get a mobile van rolling to you.
Once the adhesive has cured — usually about an hour after we fit the glass — your new windscreen is fully sealed and a Parramatta downpour won’t bother it one bit. We use quality urethane that forms a watertight bond as it sets, so as soon as you’re past that safe drive-away time you’re good to head off in any weather.
There’s no single figure, because the right price depends on your vehicle’s make, model and the grade of glass it takes — a small chip repair and a full replacement on a car fitted with ADAS cameras are very different jobs. That’s why we give every Parramatta customer a free, no-obligation quote up front, with nothing hidden. If you’ve already been quoted elsewhere, bring it to us: we’ll beat any genuine written quote for like-for-like work. And because windscreen damage is often covered by comprehensive insurance, many customers end up paying little or nothing out of pocket. Contact us for your free quote.
Most of the time, yes — right across Parramatta we run same-day chip repairs and plenty of replacements too. A chip is often fixed within hours of you calling. Replacements hinge on whether the glass for your particular car is on hand, which is why an early call gives us the best shot at wrapping it up before the day’s out. Get in touch first thing and we’ll tell you straight away what we can manage today.
The glass we fit is high-grade, OEM-equivalent auto glass that meets the Australian Standard (AS/NZS 2080) — so it matches the fit, thickness and optical quality of what left the factory. On cars running ADAS cameras and sensors we make a point of sourcing glass that plays nicely with that gear, so your safety features keep working exactly as they should. And if you’d rather have genuine manufacturer glass with the badge on it, that’s no trouble at all — just flag it when you book and we’ll organise it for you.
We keep it easy: pay however suits you — cash, tap or insert with Visa, Mastercard or AMEX, or a straight bank transfer. If you’re claiming on insurance, we can often bill your insurer directly, which means the only thing you’d cover is any excess your policy carries. Settling up happens once the job’s finished and you’re happy with it.
It absolutely can, and often when you least expect it. A chip is a weak point in the glass, so a hot Parramatta afternoon, a cold morning, a speed bump or a rough stretch of road is all it takes to send it running clear across the windscreen. The frustrating part is that once a chip turns into a long crack, it’s usually past the point of a simple fix and you’re looking at a full replacement instead. Booking a quick chip repair while the damage is still small is the cheapest and easiest way to stay ahead of it.
You’ll find kits at the servo, but honestly we’d steer you away from them. A proper repair relies on professional-grade resin, vacuum tooling and a trained eye to draw the air out of the break and lock in both the strength and the clarity of the glass. Home kits tend to leave a smudge you notice every time the light hits it, can seal bubbles inside the chip, and don’t always stop it spreading. When you weigh it up against the cost of a decent kit — and the fact our work is quote-based and backed by a warranty — letting a technician handle it just makes more sense.
Absolutely — if you’ve picked up a few stone chips on the M4 or around Parramatta, we can knock them all over in the one visit rather than making you book again. There’s a sensible limit, though: a windscreen can usually take a handful of repairs before a replacement becomes the smarter call. Once chips start clustering together or there are simply too many, the glass loses strength and we’d rather be upfront and recommend replacing it. We’ll take a proper look and give you a straight answer either way.
We do. If your windscreen has caved in or shattered and the car isn’t safe to drive, that jumps to the front of the queue and we’ll usually have a mobile van out to you the same day. Because our Parramatta line is staffed 24 hours, seven days, you can reach a real person whenever it happens — day, night or weekend — and we’ll do whatever we can to get you sorted quickly. Give us as much detail as you can when you call so we bring the right glass the first time.
