How the Claims Process Works
- Get in touch
Ring us on (02) 8111 5921 or send through a quote request, and let us know you would like to go through insurance. - Share your details
We will ask for your insurer's name, your policy number, and a claim number if you have already lodged one. - Leave the paperwork to us
We speak with your insurer directly to secure approval and arrange payment. Most approvals come back within 24 hours. - Lock in your appointment
As soon as it is approved, we book your repair or replacement at a time and place that works for you. - Only your excess to pay
You settle your policy excess, if any, directly with us, and we bill your insurer for the rest.
What You Will Need
To process your insurance claim, please have the following ready:
- Insurance company name
- Policy number
- Claim number (if already lodged)
- Vehicle registration number
- Vehicle make, model, and year
- Description of the damage and how it occurred
- Your contact details
Understanding Your Excess
Your excess is the contribution you make towards a claim. A few things worth knowing:
- The excess differs from one policy to the next, so the amount is set by your insurer, not by us
- Many policies carry a separate, lower excess just for glass damage
- Some comprehensive policies include glass cover with no excess at all
- Your PDS (Product Disclosure Statement) or a quick call to your insurer will confirm exactly what your excess, if any, will be
We collect your policy excess, if there is one, at the time of service. You can pay by card, cash or bank transfer.
Will a Claim Affect My Premiums?
For most drivers, a one-off windscreen claim leaves your no-claim bonus untouched and does not push your premium up. Every policy is different though, so if it is playing on your mind, a quick call to your insurer will confirm it. Plenty of insurers treat glass claims separately from at-fault accident claims.
Chip Repairs Through Insurance
A lot of policies cover chip repairs with nothing to pay out of pocket. If you have caught a small chip early and it can be repaired instead of replaced, going through insurance often costs you little or nothing and stops the damage getting worse. It pays to book a chip in quickly, before it runs into a crack that means a full windscreen replacement.
Fleet and Business Insurance
We look after fleet managers and local businesses too, keeping insurance claims across a whole fleet simple. We can arrange account terms and one consolidated invoice to keep your records tidy. Give us a call to chat through what your fleet needs.
Self-Funded Repairs
There are times when paying for the work yourself makes more sense than claiming:
- When your excess would come to more than the repair itself
- When you have already made a few claims and would rather protect your premium
- When your policy does not include glass cover
For self-funded work the pricing is upfront and clear, and we will happily beat any written quote. Just ask us for a free, no-obligation quote.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to lodge the claim myself?
Usually not. With your say-so, we can lodge the claim for you with most insurers. A handful insist the policyholder starts it off, and if so we will walk you through exactly what to do.
How long does approval take?
The bulk of claims are signed off within 24 hours, and some insurers approve it on the spot over the phone.
Can I choose my own repairer?
Absolutely. Australian law gives you the right to pick your own repairer, so you are never locked into whoever your insurer suggests.
What if my claim is declined?
If it gets knocked back, we will put together a sharp quote to have the work done privately, and we will beat any written quote you have. We are also happy to help if you want to challenge the insurer's decision.
